When building your dream kitchen, you want an experienced team to help you not only bring your vision to life, but avoid any potential pitfalls you may not have considered. At Five Star Kitchen Design Center, our intuitive designers not only skillfully elicit your sense of style and lifestyle to create a kitchen that looks fabulous and works for the way you live, they are armed with knowledge of all the nuances of kitchen design so we can plan a space that functions and flows seamlessly.
The project below is one example of how we created a kitchen that satisfies the desire of our client – a clean, multi-functional space that doesn’t skimp on style.
A Layout that Maximizes the Footprint
Like many kitchens, this home has a footprint that is longer than it is wide. This allowed us to incorporate a long run of cabinetry on the one wall, as well as quite a large island. Long runs and a substantial island mean plenty of storage and usable countertop area – something most clients tend to crave. We took advantage of the opportunity the footprint provided by creating a design that included a substantial number of upper and lower cabinets. For optimal flow, we maximized the wall space on the opposite side of the kitchen to place the fridge and an ample-sized pantry. We also centered the sink beneath the window for fabulous views during clean-up, fit in a five-burner cooktop, and built double ovens into the shorter, far-end wall for extra meal prep opportunities.
Classic Cabinetry Sets the Vibe
The clean lines of the shaker cabinetry – probably the most popular option among clients because of its versatility when it comes to styling – serve as the foundation for this kitchen design. Here we used the Fabuwood Galaxy door style in Birch with a Frost finish for the perimeter of the room and opted for a vent hood that blends in rather than stands out to allow the eye to take in a more streamlined look. Our design included corner cabinets with storage features to maximize space and provide easy access
An Island Focused on Form and Function
The long line of cabinets result in a lot of white in the room. We chose a wood-toned island to add warmth along with some visual interest. Here we again used Fabuwood Galaxy cabinets for a cohesive feel, but in an Espresso finish. The dramatic length of the island, which has seating for five, provides plenty more storage and an incredible amount of counter space – perfect for food prep, gathering for meals, homework, and entertaining.
A Nod to Contemporary
As we said, shaker cabinets work well with just about any design style. Here, the nod is a bit more contemporary. The gray subway tile backsplash together with the harder lines of the cabinetry hardware evoke a modern vibe.
