The kitchen below is one example of how we transformed the hub of the home for our clients in Theills, New York.
A New, Spacious and Bright Kitchen
Is there any hope for a small kitchen trapped in the 70’s? A coat of paint and replacing cabinet doors was not going to do much for this small, dark cave of a kitchen. There was little to no workspace for preparing a meal and not much storage space, except for a small pantry closet awkwardly placed around the corner from the refrigerator. Popular at the time, soffits above the cabinets stole usable space and provided no functionality. A remodel to the rescue!
The difference is night and day, with a bright white kitchen that lets the sunlight flow in. White Fabuwood cabinets line the walls and rise to the ceiling to take advantage of every inch of available space. The Allure frame of the cabinets create uninterrupted lines and a sleek modern look, elongating the vertical view and giving the illusion of a larger kitchen.
The LX Hausys Forte countertop provides a hint of gray marbling design to subtly break up the white of the walls and cabinets. The soft gray is continued on the wide plank flooring below, tying the theme together.
We used Top Knobs hardware in brushed satin nickel throughout the drawers and cabinets for a consistent and polished look.
Cabinets Surround the Refrigerator
No more hunting for ingredients in a pantry around the corner, our new layout gives the homeowners easy access to everything they need right there, atop and next to the fridge.
We replaced the cooktop and wall oven with a range and oven combination, which opened the space for additional countertop and cabinets.
Yes, There Is Room for an Island in a Small Kitchen
With expert planning and design, we were able to give the homeowners what they always wanted – a full, functional kitchen island. We continued the white cabinetry and satin nickel hardware in the island to provide a continuous design and make the whole kitchen look more spacious.
Aside from giving the homeowner more counter space for meal prep, and more storage space for cookware, this small island is super functional, featuring a spacious sink and faucet! Now when the meal is being prepared, the homeowner doesn’t have to keep crossing the kitchen to wash up. The main kitchen sink and faucet combo is identical to the one built into the island, for convenience and a uniform look.
On the other side of the kitchen island, we installed electrical outlets which are at the ready to plug in handy small countertop appliances or electric cooking tools. Space, storage, and convenience in one little workhorse of a kitchen island!
Every Inch of Space Thoughtfully Designed for Your Family’s Use
In the old kitchen, there were 2 bare walls, which are now filled with cabinets above and below new counterspace. The design choices of cabinets, hardware, and countertop continue the flow with the rest of the kitchen. There is no lack of storage here and gone are the useless soffits. Working with Five Star Kitchen Design Center, you can depend on us to find every inch of space and make it work for you with beauty and style.
